The food you will prepare is derived from age- old recipes of ancestors from a small village in Kadayanallur, South India. These recipes have been tweaked by Mama Zi, as she grew up in Singapore, gathering influence from ingredients available in South East Asia, and her observations when she travels.
Mama Zi goes to the local wet markets to get your fresh produce the day before your session. This produce ranges from fresh meat - to lesser known vegetables like moringa, humming bird leaves, roselle and also dry Indian spices and condiments. Mama Zi will explain their function in the food and for bodies.
HOME MASTER CHEF
Every chef in the world has a mother, which is why mum chefs are said to be the best chefs. Mama Zi is a home chef of 30 years. She has cooked for festivals such Eid, Ramadan and also for family celebrations. Her food may not have Michelin-starred plating, but it will always have her touch of love, the only kind of star you will need.
“There’s something so special about being welcomed into someone’s home for a meal, and even more when you make it together. Mama Zi & Baby T gave me the sense of being home.”
— Aliza, guest from U.S.A
“Meeting Taahira & Mama Zi was a great experience (…) learning about their experiences and perspective of life as first and second hand immgirants through story telling and of course cooking + eating traditional dishes adapted in a new land found only in Indian Muslim homes was such a treat.
